Saint Sorlin d'Arves
Ski resort
More than a ski resort, a mountain village with year-round inhabitants Saint Sorlin d'Arves is a commune in Savoie nestled at around 1600m altitude with several hamlets and a few hundred year-round inhabitants , called the Saint Sorlinois.
This typical Savoyard village with a view of the Aiguilles d'Arves is located approximately twenty kilometers from Saint Jean de Maurienne and 80 kilometers from Chambéry in the Maurienne valley. Tourism began in 1948 with the opening of the first ski lift, « La Loze ».
Today, it grows around the Sybelles ski area in both winter and summer. In 2014, the reception capacity estimated by Savoie Mont Blanc is 8,405 beds in St Sorlin d'Arves and 4,835 beds in St Jean d'Arves.
Saint Sorlin d'Arves has nothing to envy of other resorts: Whether it is the ski area which is the 4th largest area in France with 310 km of slopes, the Col de la Croix de Fer, very famous for cycling, the natural glacier that you can explore with its refuge, not to mention its greatest asset: its charm and authenticity.
